Unknown Actor Is New Doctor Who
David Cameron as Doctor Who
The New Doctor Who will confront the evil New Labour Daleks
The BBC has confirmed that unknown actor David Cameron will become the new Doctor Who.

Other contenders for the role included David Davis and Kenneth Clark.

Doctor Who is back on our screens after a 10 year hiatus but reviews of the new series have been patchy.

Cameron is the first actor to have been promoted from the the Doctor's Assistant to becoming the Time Lord in his own right.

'Back in Time'

Doctor Who is a Time Lord who tries to travel back in time. In one series the Doctor tried to recreate a world of "cricket on the village green, warm beer and old maids cycling to communion" but was ultimately defeated by the evil Daleks.

The new Doctor is expected to do battle with many of the traditional enemies that older viewers remember fondly from their childhood, such as the Daleks, the European Union, Asylum Seekers, and Gays.

George Osborne, who plays Dr Who's assistant Rose, is expected to return for the new series.

The previous Doctor Who - veteran actor Michael Howard - said in a statement that he was too closely linked to his previous part as Dracula to be effective in the role. "I had to hide behind the couch whenever he came", said one viewer, Ann from Maidstone. "He had something of the night about him."

'Old Etonian'

The new Doctor will be played as an upper class Old Etonian who disguises himself as an ordinary person.

Cameron is relatively unknown. His main experience is that he once played the character Brian in The Magic Roundabout. "Although David is not yet famous, we feel he has the chameleon qualities needed for this role", said the BBC.

Speaking from his Oxfordshire mansion today, David Cameron said, "Values for a modern era. Forward not back. Many not the few. Change, optimism and hope. This sentence no verb. Broken rungs on the ladder. Choice for every family. Power to local communities. More abstract nouns. New generation of leaders. Exterminate."

The BBC announced on Wednesday that the new series is expected to run until 2010. With 0.2 million viewers, the BBC hopes to beat Tony and Gordon's Saturday Night Takeaway. But they would not say whether this Doctor will last the full series. Each of the last five Doctors has starred in fewer episodes than the Doctor before him. But fans hope this time it will be different.
