Bizarrely, the BBC online magazine has an excellent article on “The problem with PowerPoint” with some tips for giving presentations that many people in the development business and in government would do well to heed. Here is the main point, as far as I am concerned:
… all too often the slides are verbal crutches for the speaker, not visual aids for the audience.

Bob Sutton offers us fifteen tips on workplace management. Most resonate with me. Especially these two:
3. In organizational life, you can have influence over others or you can have freedom from others, but you can’t have both at the same time. …13. Err on the side of optimism and positive energy in all things.
But I don’t agree that “work is an overrated activity”. Or at least, not for everyone. I love what I do, and can’t believe that I get paid to do it.
