Back

G and I are back from two weeks in Morocco.

We went into the desert on camels and slept in tents, and hiked for days in the glorious Atlas mountains.

The weather was hot, despite which every adult we met was observing Ramadan.

I start work at DFID next week, with a trip to Tokyo to discuss how we can work better with the Japanese government to improve international aid, and a meeting in Manila on aid effectiveness.

What? Not paid the telephone bill or something?

You ask a fair question – I am a big believer in using phone and videoconference.  But it is easier to establish relationships in person, and then to continue them by videoconference.

  • Crikey…I used to think travelling to conduct a case at Arbroath Sheriff Court was exotic…the glamour just bowled you over…

  • Owen, of course, I snark.

So you do the later stuff over Skype, of course? Keep the costs to the taxpayer down?

  • Owen:

I do indeed.  My official email signature includes my Skype userid, and I use it whenever the other person has Skype too.
