There’s a similar map, and lots of interesting discussion of Africa’s geography, in John Readers’s superb “Africa: A biography of the continent”, which I can’t recommend highly enough.
Reminds me of my only trip to Australia where there were postcards with a map of Australia superimposed on one of the U.S.A. which gave an idea of just how big Australia is. The map of Africa would be even better if populations of the various countries and continents were stated.
